FrozenRails was a great Ruby on Rails event in Helsinki, Finland. Great hosts, great speakers and participants. Thanks to all. Here are my pictures (and here are the rest of my pictures from around Helsinki).

Web 2.0 Expo Berlin Photo Story

I decided to try something different this time. Instead of writing a standard blogger’s report, I thought it would be neat to put together a photo story of the event, from the opening day and happy hour to the Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions and events, including the great parties each night.
Unfortunately, I did not arrive until then end of the day Tuesday, just in time for the tail end of Startup Ignite, during SoundCloud’s excellent pitch. See full coverage of all the startups on TechCrunch UK.
As many of you know (see my comments at the end of this blog post), entrepreneurs trying to take dreams to reality hold a dear place in my heart. I see them as the ultimate blend of artist, athlete, business person, and politician (in the good way). They are also the ultimate optimists, following their hearts and dreams, undaunted by the doubters and naysayers, relishing the challenge, creating something out of nothing. Dreams to reality. Yes, we can.

Pictures: Copenhagen, Reboot 10 & Flash Party
Posted in domain names, events, pics, startups, venture capital on June 29, 2008 by chriscoHere are BuzzPal’s Copenhagen- and Reboot 10-related pics. Reboot was a great event: great people, great experience, great sharing, great party! Oh, and Free Beer*, too!
Speaking of parties, here’s a really short video clip of the Flash Party that developed outside of Vega on Friday night.
What’s up next on the scene for me and BuzzPal? Hopefully, down to Portugal in October to see the awesome Portuguese crew at Shift. Check it out and get in touch with them for more info. I believe Pedro Custódio is the main contact. Follow him at twitter.com/pedrocustodio. From him, you can get in touch with all the others.
Awesome meeting everyone we could at Reboot. Looking forward to staying in touch and seeing you soon.
Update: All videos of Reboot10. For example: Anne Okkels Birk: Free? What may we learn from prisons?
Cheers!
PS: Larger sizes of a couple of the black-and-white pics plus a few of the other cool pics (if you liked the abstract effects) up at buzzpal.com/reboot10. Update: Fast forward one year to Reboot 11 Pics, Videos, and Links.
Back From Stockholm Geek Meet
Posted in events, pics, recruiting, startups on April 28, 2008 by chriscoJust time for a quick Monday morning post.
After connecting with some startup folks and developers in Stockholm, I booked a last-minute trip to one of their Geek Meet events. It was great. Looked like about 50 people in attendance. I only got a chance to meet and talk with a few of them, but made some good contacts, including the event organizer, a couple of lead developers for Swedish Web 2.0 startups, some designers, front-end programmers, and others.
Looking forward to staying in touch and expanding the circle. It’s a great community. So different than the cut-throat “Wall Street world” I swam in after business school. Very refreshing. If you’re involved in it, I guess you already know, but it’s new to me and I’ve been hooked ever since getting my first taste a few weeks ago in Amsterdam.
A few more Geek Meet pics are below. The entire Stockholm photo set is on my personal blog, chrisco.us.
